About Us

The creation of People Helping One Another (PHOA) was initiated by several life experiences of the founder and President, Drew Fraser. One experience in particular had the greatest impact, and has served as the catalyst for the organization. Drew was in the hospital due to a back injury and his roommate was a gentleman who required dialysis several times a week, but was unable to get to his appointments due to the lack of transportation. Since his health insurance did not provide transportation coverage, and because he could not afford to pay a transportation company $75 per appointment for travel, the man was left with no choice but to skip his treatments. It did not take long before the gentleman developed infections in his liver and kidneys, his diabetes worsened, and he needed to be sent to the hospital by ambulance due the threat of cardiac arrest. Nevertheless, the patient could have prevented much of the extensive damage caused by missing his dialysis treatments, had he had a means of getting to his treatments on a regular basis.

In speaking with numerous health care workers, caregivers, and patients the same types of stories are heard repeatedly. Patients who cannot afford the cost of transportation to medical appointments are forgoing treatment to the detriment of the their health. People Helping One Another is committed to assisting these patients who lack the financial resources and the access to non-emergency medical transportation.

Our free non-emergency medical transportation service is fully-insured, reliable and punctual, and our drivers hold spotless driving records.

STEP parenting facilitators are certified, meaning that they have been recognized as accomplished trainees of the program and qualified to lead discussion of its principles.
